A7: Ship Builder

This data standard should be used to record all data about ship builders- a person or company whose job or business includes the design and construction of vessels.

Fields within this standard can be compulsory (must be completed to meet the standard) or optional. Fields are optional if they ‘can be null’. Data can be recorded against a ship builder for fields not defined in this standard- the standard only defines common fields.

A7.1 Ship builder name

The current company name of the ship builder- the name most commonly used to identify the builder.

A7.2 Ship builder code

Can be null

This is a unique identifier by which a builder can be identified. Most builders have an associated code as used by vessel operators and regulatory bodies.

1: If the ship builder name (“A7.1 Ship builder name”) is not unique within the dataset, this value cannot be null.

The value in the dictionary which best describes the current state of operations for the ship builder, representing what type of activity they currently partake in.

A7.4 Ship builder country of operation

This is the ISO code identifying the country in which the ship builder currently performs its primary operations.
